The European University Association (EUA) is a network of higher education institutions in Europe. It currently has over 850 members from 46 countries. The University of Gdańsk, after several years of absence, has been admitted to the association again.
EUA was formed by the merger of two organisations: Association of European Universities (CRE) and Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences (CEURC), in Salamanca, Spain, on March 31, 2001. The main task of the organisation is to unify student education and research within the framework of the Bologna Process.
The University of Gdańsk, which a few years ago ceased to belong to the organisation, this year reapplied for membership and was accepted.
- 'The appearance of the university in such an important organisation will strengthen the role of Polish science and promote the university in the world,' - says prof. UG Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. - 'The exchange of experiences and learning about solutions applied by universities in the times of the epidemiological crisis is particularly important now.'
According to the Vice-Rector, the presence of the university in the EUA strengthens the importance of the university and activities for its development.
