The results of the competition for scholarships awarded by the Lanckoroński Foundation and the Lanckoroński Foundation of Brzezie to Polish humanities scholars for research abroad have been announced. One of the scholarship recipients (for 2027) is dr hab. Karol Kłodziński from the Department of Ancient History at the Institute of History, University of Gdańsk.
As a researcher, dr hab. Karol Kłodziński focuses on the history of the early Roman Empire (particularly the African provinces), Roman administration and Latin epigraphy. As part of the scholarship awarded by the Lanckoroński Foundation, he will conduct research in Rome on the history of Roman Africa, particularly the administration of Proconsular Africa - a province regarded as one of the most important granaries of imperial Rome.
Scholarships from the Lanckoroński Foundation and the Lanckoroński Foundation in Brzezie are awarded annually by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mediterranean archaeologists, historians, art historians, classical philologists and historians of philosophy are eligible to apply, provided that the scope of the topics covered by the researchers should not extend beyond the year 1939 (in exceptional cases, it may extend to 1989).
