Monograph by prof. dr hab. Janina Ciechanowicz-McLean entitled: 'Global Environmental Law. Basic issues'.

The University of Gdańsk publishes a monograph by prof. Janina Ciechanowicz-McLean from the Faculty of Law and Administration, entitled 'Global Environmental Law. Basic issues'. The author attempts to provide answers to several important questions: whether ecological security for present and future generations is ensured, whether the human right to live in an ecologically appropriate environment is guaranteed, why the implementation of the principle of sustainable development encounters so many difficulties in practice. This monograph is the first study on this subject in Poland.

The author presented in the book the concept, principles and nodal problems of global environmental law, including protection of the marine environment, climate protection, protection against nuclear damage. She also indicated the directions of its development. This law in its scope includes only those international agreements that regulate global environmental problems and have a very large number of ratifications, by more than 100 countries.

In the monograph, the author tries to give answers to several questions that are important for us: is the ecological security ensured for present and future generations, is the human right to live in an ecologically appropriate environment guaranteed, why the implementation of the principle of sustainable development encounters so many difficulties in practice.

The book is addressed not only to representatives of legal studies and professions but to all those who are interested in the quality of life in the surrounding environment.
