Children's Day at the University of Gdańsk

On June 1, we celebrate International Children's Day. We celebrated this special day together with the youngest children from the University Kindergarten.

International Children's Day was established in 1954 by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the ideals and goals of children's rights as set out in the Charter of the United Nations.

On the occasion of today's celebration, the UG University Kindergarten, which is currently attended by 28 children, prepared many attractions for its pupils. The University of Gdańsk, together with the Foundation for the Development of the University of Gdańsk, prepared gifts and university gadgets for the youngest, quietly hoping that in the future we will host these wonderful kids within the walls of our university 😊.

The University Kindergarten is a non-public educational institution dedicated primarily to the children of employees, doctoral students and students of the University of Gdańsk, but it is also open to children of parents from outside the UG. The kindergarten is an integral part of the academic environment. It is a place where children are researchers - active in the educational space, created by educators, parents, university teachers, students and listeners of the University of the Third Age, representatives of the local community and other entities operating in the area around the Kindergarten.

In educational and didactic work, elements of the pedagogical concept of Reggio Emilia are applied. The teacher's task is above all to accompany the child in the process of independent reaching for knowledge and searching for new solutions. The child is strong, competent, creative, full of potential and wonder, and has infinite ways of expressing himself. The teacher's work with the child is based on trust and bonding.
