On June 28, the ceremonial Final Gala of the Man of the Year 2020 Award, organised by Dziennik Bałtycki, was held. The Man of the Year 2020 was Tomasz Augustyniak. Among the honoured, nominated 10 people, distinguished by their valuable achievements, and in pursuit of their goal guided primarily by the good of others, there were two academics of the University of Gdańsk:
- dr hab. Maciej Barczewski, prof. UG from the Chair of Human Rights and Intellectual Property Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration UG
- dr Marek Ossowski from the Chair of Accounting of the Faculty of Management UG
Dr hab. Maciej Barczewski, prof. UG, lawyer, but also screenwriter and film director. He made his debut as a filmmaker at last year's Polish Film Festival in Gdynia with the film The Master about Tadeusz Pietrzykowski's fate in Auschwitz. And it was the theme of the film and the character of its protagonist that was appreciated by the competition jury. Read the interview with prof.
Dr Marek Ossowski - lecturer in managerial accounting and cost accounting at the University of Gdańsk, an enthusiast in these fields. Many times awarded for his scientific and didactic activity, among others, with the Rector's Award of the University of Gdańsk. He was nominated for the Krzysztof Celestin Mrongowiusz Teacher of the Year Award. Dr Marek Ossowski is also a Chairman of the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency.
The title of the Man of the Year has been granted for 20 years by Dziennik Bałtycki to persons who in the past year have contributed with their work, activity and commitment to the fame of Pomerania and are role models.
