Further researchers awarded in NCN MINIATURA 5 competition

Researchers from the University of Gdańsk were among the winners of the MINIATURE 5 competition organised by the National Science Centre. Funding for individual scientific activities was granted to researchers from the Faculties of Biology, Chemistry, Philology, Social Sciences, Law and Administration and the International Centre for Cancer Vaccines Science. In total, 13 projects were submitted by UG scientists.

The MINIATURE competition aims to support scientific activities leading to the preparation of a future research project planned for submission to NCN or other national or international competitions. In its fifth edition, one could obtain funding for PLN 5,000 to PLN 50,000 for activities lasting up to 12 months.

Researchers who obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than January 1, 2009, did not and do not lead a research project financed from the funds of the National Science Centre and have at least one published work or at least one artistic or artistic-scientific achievement to their credit, could apply for the funds.

Another 108 researchers from scientific centres all over Poland will begin preliminary and pilot studies, queries, scientific internships and consultancy trips thanks to financing from NCN within the MINIATURE 5 competition. Planned activities amount to nearly PLN 4 million.

Among the activities selected for funding, there are projects concerning the history and cultural heritage. There was also research on contemporary issues that affect human life and health. Funding in particular groups of sciences: humanities, social sciences and arts: 26 activities with a value of PLN 577,986, science and technology: 39 activities with a value of PLN 1,444,728 and life sciences: 43 activities worth PLN 1,970,685.

In the MINIATURE 5 competition, 108 projects of scientists from Polish universities and scientific institutions received co-financing. Employees of UG submitted 35 applications, and 13 activities have already received funding. The researchers of dr Natalia Wiśniewska from the Faculty of Biology, dr Jakub Faktor from the International Centre for Cancer Vaccines Science and dr Łukasz Cory from the Faculty of Law and Administration were joined by another 10 laureates from UG.
