After a thorough evaluation of the documents and a two-day visit to the University of Gdańsk, the European Commission decided to extend the HR Excellence in Research award for another three years. - 'Importantly, we have been awarded the highest possible rating,' - says dr Katarzyna Świerk, MBA Director of the UG Office of Science.

For six years now, the University of Gdańsk has held the prestigious HR Excellence award. This year, an audit by the European Commission took place to check whether our university continues to act in accordance with the guidelines of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct. Both documents set out the core values that should guide an employer. According to the EU, these include transparency in the recruitment process and equal treatment of candidates. 

The auditors examined what progress the University of Gdańsk has made since 2016 when it became the second university in Poland to receive the HR Excellence award. The procedure included short interviews with staff and students and in-depth analyses of the documents submitted.

 - 'We received a comprehensive audit report, which includes both recommendations for further action and praise for the effective implementation of the HR strategy and visible results. Above all, the many positive changes that have taken place at UG since the award was first made were highlighted,' - says dr Katarzyna Świerk. 

The committee also expressed its approval of the areas identified by UG where support measures are still needed and suggested solutions to improve them in the coming years.
