National Center for Research and Development, as the intermediary institution for Axis III Higher Education for Economy and Development, the European Social Fund – Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development 2014-2020 finalized the assessment of the submitted applications for the POWR.03.05.00-IP.08-00-DOS/19c „Uczelnia dostępna”(Accessible University) contest.
The Project Assessment Committee examined and evaluated 108 applications for the EU funding. 23 of the application were evaluated negatively and 85 positively.
The University of Gdańsk project was prepared by the Office- Disability Issues (BON) and the Development Project Management Office in cooperation with the Partner of the Project, the Institute of Regional Development Foundation. The project ranked fifth among projects receiving recommendations for funding.
The main goal of the “Dostępny UG” project is the improvement of the University of Gdańsk accessibility for students with disabilities, through the implementation of the comprehensive solution focused on: organizational, architectural, technological, educational changes and trainings for teaching staff and administration to improve on dealing with disabled people .
Project includes actions, which will lead to achieving the MIDI accessible university model.
Area 1 – Organizational structure – create a teaching consultant position within BON , the project’s actions efficiency analysis by the representatives of deans;
Area 2 – Architecture – establishing the external passenger elevator, professional marking system on the UG Campus;
Area 3 – Supporting technologies – BON website reconstruction, purchase of professional equipment, adapting UG websites and e-learning courses to disabled people;
Area 4 – Procedures – appoint Equal Education Opportunities Team and design procedures connected with education, evacuation, investments, working with the disabled people code; consequently modify the curricula by including the designed education support procedures, ensuring their accessibility for disabled people;
Area 5 – Means of educational support – personal advisory in the scope of education; designing the Individual Teaching Plan and rules governing the adaptation of teaching materials; providing sign language interpreter services, IT assistant, library research assistant;
Area 6 – Disability awareness raising trainings – advanced training for teaching staff, management and administration on supporting technologies, architecture, evacuation, adaptations, mental crisis support, teaching foreign languages to disabled people studio visits;
The implementation period of the project: 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2023
Total budget of the project: PLN 3,169,486.01
