Professor Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska from the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Studies (ICCVS) with Scientist of the Future Award

The director of the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Studies (ICCVS), prof. dr hab. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska was honoured by the Intelligent Development Forum Foundation with the Scientist of the Future 2023 award in the category Woman of Science Who Changes the World.

Scientist of the Future is a distinction awarded to Polish and foreign researchers carrying out innovative scientific projects that have implementation potential and impact on society. The process of selecting the winners is a multi-stage one, and in addition to the scientific and implementation value of the research conducted, the candidate's activity popularising science and active cooperation with business are also assessed.

Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska was recognised for her research into personalised therapy against non-small cell lung cancer and treatment of type 1 diabetes in children using regulatory T cells (Treg), as well as for her open approach to dissemination and popularisation of scientific research results.

At the same time, during the Eighth Intelligent Development Forum, a team of ICCVS researchers ( prof. Marek-Trzonkowska, dr Sachin Kote and dr Jakub Faktor) represented the University of Gdańsk, promoting inventions developed during the implementation of the International Research Agendas project of the Foundation for Polish Science.

The award was presented on October 20, 2023, at the Eighth Intelligent Development Forum Gala in Uniejów.
