Prof. dr hab. Ewa Łojkowska from the Interuniversity Faculty of Biotechnology UG and GUMed was appointed to the Committee of Experts of the Task Force created by the RE-IMAGINE EUROPE Programme, All European Academies (ALLEA) and European Sustainable Agriculture through Genome Editing (EU-SAGE) on 'Sustainable Agriculture and Innovation.'
The Task Force aims to better understand how the 'Field to Fork' (F2F) strategy can become a key element of the European Green Deal and how innovations in agriculture, such as the use of CRISPR crop genome editing, for example, can help to implement this strategy.
The Task Force is chaired by Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation at the previous European Commission.
The Committee of Experts will aim to determine how, with ambitious climate targets as a priority for Europe, it is possible to develop a global standard for sustainable agricultural development while protecting biodiversity and restricting agricultural land use.
