From 20 to 22 September 2019, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University in Gdańsk hosted the 28th IATEFL International Conference, co-organized by Foreign Languages Center of the University of Gdańsk. The prestigious International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language Conference, returning to Gdańsk after more than twenty years, gathered around a thousand attendees from Poland and abroad.
The main goal of the conference was to promote trends and recent achievements in English teaching methodology and share knowledge on English-speaking countries and cultures. Over hundred lectures and workshops were held during three days at the conference. Participants could hear lectures conducted by world-class experts, take part in practical workshops and discussions, share their experiences on new teaching trends and techniques, learn about the up-to-date foreign language teaching books and available materials. The conference was organized under the auspices of: His Magnificence Rector UG prof. dr hab. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała; the Governor of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Dariusz Derlich; the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk; the Mayor of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz; the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Radio Gdańsk S.A. and Trojmiasto.pl website.
Starting from the first day, the extensive conference program encouraged integration of international teachers environment and was a marvelous opportunity to improve professional competences. The team of enthusiastic and passionate volunteers comprising the employees of the Foreign Languages Center and the University of Gdańsk students provided essential contribution to the 28th IATEFL POLAND International Conference’s organizational success.
