Supporting scientific activities leading to the preparation of a future research project planned for submission to NCN or other national or international competitions - this is the goal of the MINIATURA competition. Among the winners, there are employees of the University of Gdańsk.
Coordinators of Disciplines of the National Science Centre presented ranking lists of activities qualified for funding within the MINIATURA 5 competition for single scientific activities announced by NCN on May 4, 2021.
The laureates include employees of the University of Gdańsk:
- dr Urszula Zarzecka from the Faculty of Biology, the proposal entitled: 'The role of periplasmic proteases in metalloregulation in Helicobacter pylori bacteria', received funding for preliminary/pilot studies in the amount of 49,940.00 PLN;
- dr Anna Iglikowska from the Faculty of Biology, application titled: 'Testing bioaccumulation of heavy metals in aquatic crustaceans from the group of Ostracoda', has received funding for preliminary/pilot studies in the amount of PLN 49 500.00.
This is the first ranking list announced by the National Science Centre. The call for applications runs until September 30, 2021.
In the fifth edition of the competition, funding in the amount of PLN 5 000 to 50 000 can be obtained for preliminary or pilot research, a search, a scientific internship, a research trip or a consultancy trip lasting up to 12 months. The competition is open to scientists who obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than January 1, 2009, who did not and do not lead research projects financed from the funds of the National Science Centre and have at least one published work or at least one artistic or artistic-scientific achievement to their credit.
The total budget of the MINIATURA 5 competition is PLN 22 million. These funds are distributed proportionally throughout the call for proposals, and an application may qualify for funding only if it falls within the pool of funds allocated for a given month.
