The title of doctor honoris causa of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz was conferred on prof. dr hab. Bogdan Wojciszke, an outstanding social psychologist, associated for nearly 20 years with the University of Gdańsk.
Prof. dr hab. Bogdan Wojciszke, a psychologist, professor of humanities, academic lecturer, full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, received the highest academic dignity during the inauguration of the academic year 2021/2022 at UKW in Bydgoszcz. The university's Senate awarded the title in recognition of the professor's merits as a scholar, organiser and promoter of science last year, but due to the pandemic, the ceremony took place this year.
The promoter was prof. dr hab. Janusz Trempała from UKW, who during the ceremony presented the scientific achievements of the honorary doctor. As it was emphasized during the laudation, prof. dr hab. Bogdan Wojciszke is counted among the most outstanding contemporary social psychologists in Poland. He is a scientific authority in research on cognitive processes and social behaviour of people, on social perception and moral judgements and ethical values in the functioning of individuals and social groups.
- 'Prof. Bogdan Wojciszke is a researcher whose works in the field of psychology have entered the mainstream of world scientific research, become a subject of discussion on the international forum and have created a source of inspiration for empirical research among the entire community of researchers,' - said prof. dr hab. Jacek Woźny, rector of UKW, during the ceremony.
Prof. dr hab. Bogdan Wojciszke graduated with a master's degree in psychology from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in 1975, received his doctoral degree in psychology in 1978 at the University of Gdańsk and his postdoctoral degree in psychology at the University of Warsaw in 1986. He received the title of professor of humanities in 1993. In 1975, he was employed at Adam Mickiewicz University. In 1977-1996, he worked at the Institute of Psychology of the University of Gdańsk (in 1993-1999 he was its director). In 2002-2012, he worked at the Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (in 2002-2008, he was its director). From 1997 he worked at the Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the years: 2007-2013 he was Dean of the Faculty of SWPS in Sopot.
