- 'It was with joy and great satisfaction that I accepted the appointment as Director of the BUG. I recognise the many challenges facing the library and me personally. We need to develop, keeping up with the dynamically changing environment both at the scale of our university and on a much wider scale,' - says Roman Tabisz. - 'In addition to the basic library activity of providing access to up-to-date knowledge and creating favourable conditions for its acquisition, I would like the BUG to be a space where people feel comfortable and where they are happy to spend their time, a space that is vibrant and is the centre of the campus not only topographically, but also perceived in this way by the academic community. I am confident that together with a dedicated library team we will create just such a place.'
The University of Gdańsk's Main Library, together with six specialist libraries located throughout the Tricity, forms the university's library and information system. It also functions as a scientific library open to the public, serving the dissemination of science and culture to the residents of the city and region.
Its mission is to support scientific, research and educational processes at the UG and to satisfy the library and information needs of external users.
