Next medals for the University of Gdańsk at the Polish Academic Championships

Gold in the university category and in the overall Polish Academic Championships (AMP) classification in women's rowing ergometer, silver and bronze for the men, as well as silver in the university classification in judo – these are the team results from the competition held last weekend as part of the Polish Academic Championships. The #UGteam also brought home numerous individual medals from Warsaw and Białystok!

Twelve female and seven male athletes from the ASA UG rowing ergometer section travelled to the Polish capital. Monika Trawczyńska performed best on the national stage, becoming the Polish Academic Vice-Champion in the open category! She added to this a gold in the UNI category (classification of traditional universities), where Gabriela Stefaniak also competed, winning bronze. Among the men, the highest placing was achieved by Ryszard Piasecki, who ‘rowed’ his way to 4th place in the overall classification and gold in the university category (lightweight class).

The women also enjoyed success in this year’s new AMP event – the rowing crew competition. Bronze was won by the crew comprising: Katarzyna Gonera, Natalia Chabros, Gabriela Stefaniak and Jagoda Feter.

The results of the entire team translated into a historic success: gold in the overall classification and the women’s UNI category (it is worth noting that they finished well ahead of the second-placed team). The men, meanwhile, stood on the podium in the overall classification for the first time, winning bronze, as well as adding a silver in the UNI category.

The ASA UG section travelled to Białystok with a ten-strong squad.

Dmytro Kyrychenko returns from the capital of Podlasie as the Polish University Champion! In the same category (-66 kg), he also took gold in the UNI, whilst Marcin Kotlik added a silver medal. In the -60 kg category, Mukhtar Alwaqedi became the Polish runner-up! Among the women, Dominika Kuźma-Ebel (in the -78 kg category) took a strong 5th place.

These and the other results achieved by our athletes meant that the University of Gdańsk won silver in the university rankings and finished 8th in the overall standings.

We warmly congratulate all the athletes, as well as the coaches, and wish them continued success.
