'Cooperation with graduates is very important to us, among other things because it builds the University's identity. We believe that the alumni community should be treated as an integral part of our community,' - says prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector UG. - 'Among our graduates are many active and creative participants in social and economic life, politicians who play an important role in our region and country, and many well-known scientists. This is an inexhaustible resource of great support for the university and just one example of how to build our position at home and abroad.'

The purpose of the meeting was to establish close cooperation between SAUG and UG.

'We are pleased with the reception by the Rector. We had the opportunity to talk about joint plans for the future. We were also handed the flag of the University of Gdańsk with the new logo,' - says Eligiusz Michałek. - 'SAUG pursues several main objectives, the first of which is to unite the alumni circles with the academic staff, the second is to develop contacts between associations of individual universities. The third, very important objective, is also to show potential students that it is worth studying at the University of Gdańsk, due to its highly qualified scientific staff and 21st-century conditions.'

During today's visit, it was also agreed to organise a big reunion of the University of Gdańsk graduates.

'The reunion could take place on the 55th anniversary of the founding of the University of Gdańsk. Apart from gathering a large number of graduates, we are planning various attractions, such as a joint concert or a picnic. One thing is certain, it will be a big event to which we have already invited all our graduates,' - adds the Rector of the University of Gdańsk.

'We support the University of Gdańsk all the time' Read the interview with the new president of the UG Alumni Association.
