THE FIRST STAGE OF THE INTERNATIONAL SEA-EU CRUISE IS ALMOST OVER!

On the route from Gdynia to Kiel, we hosted scientists from Spain and Germany on board. Despite difficult weather conditions, we managed to carry out hydroacoustic, chemical and biological research.

The collected water samples will be used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions from the marine environment into the atmosphere. Using various types of nets, we obtained research material for assessing microplastic pollution of marine waters. Aerosol samples will be used for further studies of atmospheric pollution. Some of the analyses were conducted on an ongoing basis in specialised laboratories on board, while others will be carried out after returning to land.

Thanks to the use of specialist equipment installed on the modern research vessel RV Oceanograf and the support of the crew, we were able to carry out interdisciplinary research aimed at determining the impact of humans on the ecosystem of the Baltic Sea.

We are looking forward to the next days of the voyage.
