Polish Academic Beach Volleyball Championship Finals 2021

The city beach in Gdynia hosts the finals of the Polish Academic Championships in Beach Volleyball for Women and Men. We will see who will stand on the podium this year on July 7th.

Gdynia, like every year, has become the capital of academic beach volleyball. For the first time, the competition is held in July. The right to participate in the finals was granted to 32 pairs of men and women, i.e. 128 participants in total.

The event, which began on July 4 (Sunday), is organised by AZS University of Gdańsk in cooperation with Gdynia Sports Centre. The Polish Academic Championships are co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport and their main sponsor is LOTOS Group S.A. The Lech Wałęsa Airport in Gdańsk is also a sponsor of the Gdynia competition.

As Piotr Walczak, the chairman of AZS UG, informs, after final reports we know that in Gdynia we will not see 3 men's pairs, while the ladies will appear in full. In this year's final, we will see representations of as many as 33 universities from all over Poland. In women's competition, the most numerous representation has the University of Silesia in Katowice. In the men's competition, it is the host - AZS University of Gdańsk and AWF Katowice that have the biggest number of pairs in the finals - 3 each. - 'These universities will certainly count in the fight for medals in the team classification, although they will certainly be joined by the universities that have 2 pairs in the finals. The title in the team classification is defended by Poznan University of Technology in the women's competition and Warsaw University in the men's competition,' - predicts chairman Piotr Walczak.

Justyna Kozłowska / Weronika Antczak from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań will defend their individual title. In the finals we will also see the silver medalists - Kinga Legieta / Patrycja Jundziłł from the University of Łódź and last season's bronze medalists - Monika Gajtkowska / Gabriela Puławska from the Poznań University of Technology.

In the men's tournament, the title is defended by Michał Korycki / Adam Manios from the University of Warsaw, we will also see the silver medallists from 2020 Marek Subocz / Tymoteusz Juszczak from the Poznań University of Technology and the bronze medallist Tobiasz Kaniewski, who this time will play with Maciej Włodarczyk in the colours of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.
