Bodø University hosted another series of meetings of rectors and those directly involved in the implementation of the SEA-EU European University of the Seas Programme. The meeting on May 28-29 summarised the partnership's activities to date and discussed the formal requirements of the European Commission regarding the mobility dimension and the legal status of the alliance.

Reports were presented on the preparation of joint educational programmes, the cooperation of partner universities with cities and ports, the implementation of projects led by the SEA-EU student community, sports and cultural cooperation, and other activities undertaken within the alliance.

During the official meeting of the rectors, most attention was paid to the ways of financing the alliance after full funding from the European Commission ceases and to the forms of the future legal status which would enable, among other things, coordinated application for funds for joint research and teaching projects.

Prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of the UG, presented the assumptions of a joint SEA-EU research cruise in the waters of the Baltic, North, and Norwegian Seas aboard the r/v Oceanograf (BaltArctic Research Cruise), and also informed about the Polish government's immediate intentions within the framework of the Polish Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2025. In terms of promoting science and international cooperation, the University of Gdańsk will seek to organise one of the two planned events - the International Congress of European University Students - next spring.
