Due to the risk of coronavirus in Pomerania and the growing number of patients in Poland, the Rector of the University of Gdansk has issued an order suspending all teaching, scientific, sports and artistic events organized at the University of Gdansk until further notice. The decision to suspend classes was made in agreement with the Students' Parliament and the PhD Council of the University of Gdansk. The decision to suspend the trips and arrivals of the employees and students of the University of Gdańsk, concerning the countries covered by the coronavirus epidemic, has been extended to all trips abroad and arrivals of guests from abroad. The previous recommendations have also been replaced by the obligation to immediately notify superiors of the fact of return from the countries affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic. Employees, students and doctoral students who have recently been in these countries are recommended to stay in their place of residence for 14 days from the date of return and follow the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector. The Order of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University has been in force since 10 March 2020 and was communicated to the employees and students of the university by e-mail.
We would also like to inform you that the Rector of the University of Gdańsk has appointed the Committee for Counteracting the Proliferation of Coronavirus COVID-19, which will coordinate the activities of the university in this respect.
As in the case of other European and Polish universities and institutions, these are prophylactic actions related to the real threat of the COVID-19 virus. Communications, orders and information on subsequent decisions and actions will be posted on the website of the University of Gdansk.
